Trout In the Classroom

What is Trout in The Classroom?

Cherokee Chapter Trout Unlimited place trout in the classrooms throughout East Tennessee to help children learn about trout and water conservation. As part of the volunteer program of Trout in the Classroom, Cherokee Chapter members assist teachers with their aquarium, troubleshoot potential problems and participate as guest speakers in the classroom.

The classrooms that start in early September will have fry (newly hatched trout) in October. Those trout will grow into fingerlings for release in December. After Christmas school break, some classrooms will start again in January for a release in May.
